The Asian Cultural Council 2007 Gala will take place on Tuesday evening, November 13th in New York City celebrating the work of the ACC and honoring the great Indian musician and former ACC grantee Ravi Shankar, his brilliant daughter Anoushka Shankar, and renowned composer and performer Philip Glass.

The Gala will also honor the Starr Foundation for its important role in supporting Asian art and culture and ACC Trustees Seiji Tsutsumi from Japan, Kenneth H. C. Fung and Hans Michael Jebsen from Hong Kong, and Douglas Tong Hsu from Taiwan for their important leadership of the ACC in Asia.

The Gala Co-Chairs are Valerie Rockefeller Wayne and Steven William Wayne and Elizabeth Kojima and J. Christopher Kojima. The evening will include dinner and an extraordinary performance program in Jazz at Lincoln Center’s spectacular Allen Room and promises to be a truly memorable occasion.

The Asian Cultural Council was created in 1963 by John D. Rockefeller 3rd to foster cultural exchange between Asia and the United States, primarily through a program of fellowships to individuals. The organization, chaired by Elizabeth J. McCormack, helps support exceptional emerging, mid-career, and master artists and scholars working in the performing and visual arts fields. The vibrancy of the ACC’s program encourages vital links between the U.S. and Asia.

Contributors to the Gala will be supporting the organization’s dynamic and important mission and will be given the opportunity to see the excellence of the ACC’s unique program in action. Gala Tables for ten (10) guests are being sold as Leaders at $50,000, Benefactors at $25,000, or Patrons at $10,000. All Table buyers will receive priority seating in the intimate Allen Room and acknowledgment in our Gala printed materials.

In addition, a limited number of Individual Tickets can be purchased at $5,000, $2,500, and $1,000 each. Individual ticket buyers also will receive acknowledgment in the printed program.
