Alliance of Artists Communities

United States

The Alliance of Artists Communities is a national and international association of artist communities and residencies founded in 1991 with a mission to improve the environment in which artist communities support the creative process. The Alliance is the only national service organization in the U.S. supporting the field of artists' communities (residencies, retreats, and colonies).Art Farm, one of the Alliance member organizations, is a residency program in rural Nebraska. In fall 2011, with ACC support, the Alliance's executive director Caitlin Strokosch, along with development and program manager Adam Short, and Ed Dadey, founder and director of Art Farm, traveled to China together to establish personal connections with artist residencies and organizations for the purpose of initiating a residency exchange program between the U.S. and China.
