Attack Theatre
United StatesThe ACC enabled three members of the Attack Theatre Company to travel to the Philippines and engage in a collaborative performance project with the Talaandig Tribe in Bukidnon. Founded in 1994 by Artistic Directors Michele de la Reza and Peter Kope, Attack Theatre combines modern dance, original music, and multimedia with a passionate and organic approach to producing cross-cultural experimentation, discourse, and discovery. The company has a history of collaborating with diverse communities, and they are exploring new music and movement ideas inspired by participating in the daily life of the Talaandig Tribe in Mindanao. They engaged in “performative dialogue” by living and observing the tribe’s cultural practices in order to create a meaningful, creative relationship. The resulting artistic vocabulary was a unique synthesis of personal histories and cultural traditions showcased in a final production of cross-cultural collaboration.
