ACC provided support to Sonya Lee to carry out focused research on ecological history of cave temples at sites in the southwestern province of Sichuan, China. Investigating what it means to integrate cultural practices into the natural environment, Ms. Lee’s research offered a unique perspective on the artistic practice at cave temples and the creative use of monumental sculpture to reshape landscapes into cultural spaces.
