MEDUSA

May 6, 2017 - June 3, 2017

Known for her photographic works in portraiture, contemporary landscape, and installation, 2008 ACC Fellow Wawi Navarroza returns with a much-anticipated show that summons “the Medusa and the Gaze” that can turn the “seen” into stone. Spending the last two years in field work, photography, research and hours at sea, the artist alludes to searching for the philosopher’s stone, this time: in MARBLE—as material and muse. The exhibit comes together with large-format photographs, sculpture/installation, and a durational painting.

MEDUSA will be on view until June 3 2017. Opening Reception on May 6th, Saturday starts at 6:00pm. Walkthrough with the artist is on the 27th, Saturday at 3 pm.

Wawi Navarroza recieved an ACC fellowship in 2008 for research and creative work in the United States.

Not Visual Noise

November 24, 2019 - March 29, 2020

Curated by artist, writer and lecturer--and ACC alumna Angel Velasco ShawNot Visual Noise is a seminal photography exhibition that features more than 30 artists living in the Philippines and in the Filipino diaspora, many of them ACC alumni. It aims to showcase a diverse range of artists engaged in photography-based art practices whose works broadly represent what is happening in the fields of photography today — from photojournalism, long-form documentary photography to conceptual and installation photography, and web/social media-based projects. The exhibition examines the tension between high/low culture and high/low art photography in a media-saturated world in the hopes of drawing in wider and newer audiences.

Featured artists in this exhibition are National Artist Benedicto “Bencab” Cabrera, Ezra Acayan, Alex Baluyut, Ringo Bunuoan, Nana Buxani, Geloy Concepcion, Kiri Dalena, Lizza May David, Neil Daza, Kawayan de Guia, Kidlat de Guia, Romina Diaz, Carlo Gabuco, Tommy Hafalla, Nap Jamir, Raffy Lerma, Wawi Navarroza, Neal Oshima, Gina Osterloh, Butch Perez, Rick Rocamora, Emmanuel Santos, Lawrence Sumulong, Stephanie Syjuco, Wig Tysmans, Veejay Villafranca, Boy Yñiguez, and MM Yu.
