We are pleased to announce that Mr. Takafumi Takahashi has been appointed to the Board of Trustees of the Asian Cultural Council (ACC) Japan Foundation, effective April 10, 2025.

Mr. Takahashi is a co-founder of BrainPad Inc. and is active in the Big Data and AI field. He started a contemporary art collection in 2018. To promote its enjoyment and encourage young collectors, he founded and leads a contemporary art club within EO, an entrepreneurs’ network. Additionally, he is involved in solving gender inequality in the art industry as a board member of the Japan branch of the National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA) in the United States. He actively participates in various initiatives to address issues in the contemporary art world.
We hope Mr. Takahashi, who has extensive expertise in contemporary art, will continue to develop the ACC Japan Foundation as a board member in the future.

Takafumi Takahashi [profile]
In 1997, Takafumi Takahashi completed a master’s degree at Keio University Graduate School of Media and Governance.
He started his career at Sun Microsystems Japan (now Oracle Japan) as a new graduate. Later, he joined the founding team of FreeBit.com Inc. (now FreeBit Co., Ltd.). In March 2004, he co-founded BrainPad Inc. to help Japanese companies use Big Data. As CEO, he led the company to an IPO on the Tokyo Mothers Market in September 2011 and a listing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange First Section in 2013 (now listed on the Prime Market).
Currently, he serves as the Representative Director of the Data Scientist Association of Japan and was also involved in the founding of the Japan Deep Learning Association.

Since 2018, he has been collecting contemporary art. His collection exhibition, “Collecting? Connecting?”, was held at WHAT MUSEUM (Tennozu Isle) in 2024.
 



I am honored to serve as a board member of ACC, supporting cultural exchange between the U.S., Japan, and Asia.
I believe dialogues through the arts can bring about positive change in the world, and I will continue to contribute to the efforts to the best of my ability.
