As civil injustice continues around the world sparked by social and economic disparities or political discontent, citizens still take risks to go out and exercise the right to peaceful protest despite the pandemic imposing restrictions in 2020 and 2021.

In an informal discussion with 4 different cultural/activist groups working in Southeast Asia (Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, Philippines) we discuss how the pandemic has exacerbated political and social divides and what new strategies and shifts have to emerge to overcome the deepening of restrictions on citizen rights. We expect to discuss on how to organise remotely, how to diversify voices and expand viewpoints and what are the critical goals of organising protest under social (and political) restrictions.
