The ACC community mourns the recent passing of esteemed Filipino filmmaker and Cine Manila International Film Festival Founder Amable ‘Tikoy’ Aguiluz VI (ACC 1977, 1999, 2000, 2003).

Regarded as one of the prominent figures in the Philippine alternative cinema movement, his colleagues at the Directors' Guild of the Philippines Inc. attest to his significant contribution to the entertainment industry, describing him as a visionary, a maverick, and a genuine supporter of Philippine cinema.

The Film Development Council of the Philippines shared about his achievements saying, “His award-winning film Segurista was the Philippines’ official entry to the Academy Awards in 1996, and his historical film Rizal sa Dapitan won the Grand Jury Prize at Brussels International Film Festival and was shown at prestigious film festivals around the world. He was conferred the Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Arts et Lettres (Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters) by the French government for his invaluable contribution to Philippine cinema.”

Our sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.
