Creating a space for the visibility, education, and discussion of films that choreograph in and around the camera, the Fifth Wall Film Festival gathers emerging independent filmmakers from all over the world in a virtual festival that celebrates dance on film. Dance artist and Fifth Wall Festival Director Madge Reyes describes that the platform aims to help develop and strengthen the dance film genre and bridge the gap between local and international dance communities. By launching the Philippines' first international film festival dedicated to dance, her team also hopes to encourage and reignite creativity in isolation. She further adds, "we challenge artistic experimentation between dance and film, while recognizing both disciplines as instruments for shaping and transforming our approach towards the current normal." The open call for short film entries is ongoing until September 13, 2020. Visit the website to learn more.
