Faction is pleased to present its selected project of International Project Open Call 2026, Chatori Shimizu’s “Hyper Samgyetang” from July 4 to 12. Japanese composer and sound artist Chatori Shimizu creates experimental and interdisciplinary sound works through semi-autobiographical narratives, articulated as concert music, site-specific music, or kinetically enhanced music. The new project “Hyper Samgyetang” (2026), conceived during his residency in Seoul, is a site-specific performance featuring an installation created in collaboration with artist Heeae Yang for the Faction space, alongside a saenghwang and shō performance featuring Jisu Han. Presented together with the new work is the Korea premiere of “Ebi Revolution” (2022), a kinetically enhanced music work that augments the functionality of instruments and performers through mechanical components.
