Thai artist Som Supaparinya to open first Scandinavian solo exhibition in Copenhagen from 26 September 2026. Titled Reroute:, the exhibition runs from 26 September 2026 to 21 February 2027 and brings together two recent video installations examining how infrastructure, political alliances and historical narratives have shaped Thailand and its landscape.

Melted Stars from 2026 traces suppressed memories of Thailand’s involvement in Japanese military operations during World War II. The installation draws on fieldwork, interviews, historical documents and footage collected by Supaparinya over several years.

The second work, Mo num en ts from 2025, examines the environmental and political consequences of Thailand’s alliance with the United States during the Cold War.

Across the two installations, roads, railways, dams, bridges and monuments are presented not only as physical structures, but also as expressions of political power and competing ideas of national progress.
