The Great Filipino Songbook at Tago Jazz on August 2 - SOLD OUT!

Experience a nostalgic evening of cabaret and cultural rediscovery as SamaSama Project’s Lou Ella Rose and Baron Cabalona take the stage with the TAGO Jazz Collective in The Great Filipino Songbook at TAGO Jazz.

This special one-night concert features contralto Lou Ella Rose, an Asian Cultural Council (ACC) Fellow currently conducting research on Filipino music from the early 20th century. A celebrated artist with roots in both the U.S. and the Philippines, Lou Ella returns home to share the music and stories that have shaped Filipino music across generations and diasporas.

Audiences will be treated to songs from her latest cabaret piece, Confessions of a Contralto, as well as selections from her ongoing project, The Great Filipino Songbook—a revival of the timeless kundiman, folk songs, and classic OPM set against the background of important events in Philipppine and Filipino American history.

Joined by the powerhouse ensemble of the TAGO Jazz Collective this evening promises world-class musicianship, rich storytelling, and a celebration of heritage through music.
