This solo exhibition centers on Taiwanese contemporary artist Chen Ching-YAO's (ACC 2008) new series “War and Food” and takes “The Empire’s Fuel: Curry” as its theme. Britain’s expansion into India intensified in the seventeenth century, and curry became increasingly commercialized in the eighteenth. This history is itself a global history of colonialism, woven from spices and imperial expansion, dispersal and fusion.
